Photoshop tips
Sep. 28th, 2006 11:37 amHey I've got a really good link for you Photoshoppers out there. Bert Monroy, who used to bits on the Tech TV's Screensavers before it became G4 and a load of ass, is doing a video podcast now for Revision 3. You may have heard me talk about Diggnation. That's one of the big things from Revision 3, but there are other good podcasts as well. Bert has written a few books about using Photoshop and he's great at showing you unconventional ways to get good effects. The first episode is about making lightning. Now, who knows how often you'd want to make lightning, but as he points out, it's not the actual thing, it's the techniques you learn that you can apply in other ways. So even if you've used Photoshop a lot, or are just starting out, you're going to learn something that you can apply to your own projects.
The first episode is HERE. You can either play it on the site, or download a larger version. I recommend the download because you can get better detail and see just what he's doing. I don't know how often they're going to put these up, but just check back every couple of weeks or so. Most of the podcasts are weekly to bimonthly.
It makes me want one of those WACOM pads now for sure.
Also for you not so great cooks out there, you might want to check out Ctrl-Alt-Chicken on the site as well. It's two geeks who don't cook (Alex from Diggnation and Heather who is pretty cool) trying out recipes. It isn't your standard cooking show, because they screw up more often than not. So you get to learn from their mistakes without wasting food or setting off your smoke alarm.
