Finished my first final at school this morning. It took me about ten minutes tops. I'm so glad this quarter is over. The bad thing is, they don't have the schedules ready for next quarter yet. We have this week, then a week off for Thanksgiving, then we start the next quarter. I need to submit in any school schedule changes to work a week in advance. I'm really unimpressed with the way this school is run. I've heard nothing but bad things, and apparently no one going there actually wants to get a degree. It's the biggest bunch of slackers I've ever met. This is nothing like when I went to a regular University.

I'm tired because I've had maybe four hours of sleep. I'm so glad I'm off work for a couple of days after tonight. I dread going in. Not because it's bad, but mostly because it's not something I want to be doing. I hate just getting by in any shape or form.

I suppose I could be using this extra time for something, but I'm just too tired to bother.

Yesterday, I was so bored at work, I started writing an SG-1 fic. I don't even really read SG-1 stuff anymore. *sigh*

Well, I'm off to my first day of school and work. I'm so nervous that I could barely eat anything this morning. Guh.

I am officailly moved in as of Saturday. I would have posted then, but there was a problem with installing my internet. Thankfully, it seems to be working now. I'm grateful because what with having the first day of class and the first day of work tomorrow, I'm not going to be here for the House Season premiere. Thankfully, work lets out at 9:30, so that means I will get to see Atlantis. Rodney overload will likely make me all a quiver. I haven't gotten a chance to check out my friends list yet, but hopefully everyone is getting hyped for the Supernatural DVD release tomorrow. I only wish I had the money. I'll just have to wait until I get paid. Speaking of DVDs, I know they've announced the date for the SG-1 DVDs but what about Atlantis season 2? Do we know when that will hit shelves? Probably some time in Nov. right?

Well, I have to go to bed early tonight since I have a really long day ahead of me tomorrow. I want to thank everyone that has left congrats and yay! notes lately. I haven't had the chance to respond to them, but I do appreciate all of them. Hopefully, this coming weekend I can play catch up.

Good news

Well, after all day of interviews and tests and interviews and a couple more interviews, I got the job. They're paying me the higher rate thanks to my education, and everything looks good. I have 6 weeks of training that gives me weekends off, but after that I'll be working weekends. The last of those six weeks ends on the weekend of Winchester Con, so I'm hoping to god that I get that weekend off too. If not, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Perhaps I'll have days built up by then or something. I really won't know until orientation, or I suppose I could call HR and ask sometime this week. I'd really, really hate to have to flake out of the con. I'd be devistated, really.

I am so tired after all this today. I'm going to go lay on the couch and watch the 'Gates and then go to bed. I have work in the morning. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't just tell my boss that I need to quit earlier than I told her I needed. *iz ded*

I GOT AN INTERVIEW! Yay! The lady from Brinks Security called me to set up an interview. The pay is a little better than I had hoped and they pay shift differential because I'll be working second shift. (Which works out fine because I have morning classes anyway.) I don't think they'll be any problem getting the job. They obviously need help and I don't have to worry about the background check and stuff.

Now I'll just have a 17 hour day two days a week, unless I have class days off.... I'm glad I'll be getting a DVR from my cable provider. 2nd Shift means I'm going to miss everything. *sigh*

I'm mostly moved in. My apartment is very bare, but I hope to fill it up when I move in permanently on the 2nd. It was extremely boring being without internet or cable. Something I plan to rectify in the next week. I found my way around on Friday after [livejournal.com profile] amiguriken left. My apartment complex is in a really convenient part of town. I'm minutes away from school and all the businesses. Hopefully work won't be too far away either. I went to Orientation this morning. It lasted about an hour and the only useful thing I did was get my picture taken for my student ID. I didn't get a chance to talk to the career services lady, but I did get a new packet of available jobs, so I have to look that over. It was over by ten and I just ran back to the apt. to get my things and come home. Two more weeks and I'll be there permanently. Scary thought. I'm starting to get nervous about the money and everything. I hope I find a job soon.

Now on to fun stuff.

I finally managed to see the ( Stargates. )

And now a meme. God, I haven't done one of these in forever. But this one I couldn't pass up. Hopefully, it'll help me get my shit in gear.

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] sdraevn who gakked it from [livejournal.com profile] rivier:If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fan fiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence (or more) from each of your current work(s) in progress. It should probably be your favorite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

I've been MIA for a while what with all the moving preparation and work. Today is for packing and tomorrow is the move. I have my school's orientation on Saturday. I still don't have any new job news. I might find out something more on Saturday when I can talk to the career services lady.

Work has been especially boring as there are very few tourists because of school starting back everywhere. I brought my computer to work and was so bored I had time to make a new Atlantis wallpaper. So at least I'm bringing you goodies.

Update

*iz tired*

I had two days off of doing nothing, but now it's back to work. I'm moving in on the 17th and I have 4 days off. Wednesday to pack,Thursday to move, Friday to lounge about and then my Orientation is on Saturday. Sunday, I'm back here and back to work. Hopefully, I'll know about my schedule by then. I also have applied for a job with US Cellular. I haven't heard back yet other than a job fair notice that I couldn't attend. There was an email addy with the notice that let me request an interview, but I haven't heard back yet. I haven't applied anywhere else, but the Career Services director has my resume and should be getting back to me soon. So a lot of stuff is gelling at the moment, but I have a deep fear that everything is going to be really last minute. I know that I've done everything I can in advance, so we'll see how everything pans out. I've also been helping my boss' mother install her DSL and that has been less than fun. At least the boss' wife is paying me for it, but I could tell you horror stories about my morning. Sheesh. What I won't do for a few extra bucks. Right now I'm just having small panic attacks about my couch not fitting on [livejournal.com profile] amiguriken's truck and other fun things. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Tomorrow is Friday. Tomorrow is Friday.

It's good news all around.

First, I GOT THE APARTMENT! I'm going to move furniture down on the 17th with the help of [livejournal.com profile] amiguriken and her truck! I won't officially be living there until the end of the month most likely, but everything is coming together.

Second, I am blasting away on the McShep AU that I've been writing for a while. It's over 20,000 words now and I've only got 2 more scenes to write.

Yay!
daughtershade: (robin flail)
Back! I found a place. It's tiny (a studio), but cheap, so who cares? I should hear back tomorrow from the lady, and I expect move in to happen around the 17th. I won't actually be living over there until the end of August, but at least I have a place. *contented sigh* Now I just have to find a job. Joy of joys.
daughtershade: (jared hot)
On my way to Knoxville to look for an apartment. Fingers crossed people.

So I've been MIA both because of work and because of this stupid paper that I've been worrying about. The school gave me a thing to test out of one of my classes this coming semester. It's like the final exam for the class with a big research paper. I thought I could do it, but the more I sit here and try and research, the more I realize, that there is just no way in hell. I don't have the resources or time to do this. Basically, it amounts to the final of the class. Well, since I didn't take the class and haven't read the textbook this whole fucking thing is based on, there is no way in hell I could do it. Plus the research paper is just appalling and I have 3 weeks to do it in... or that was when they gave it to me. I have more like two weeks now, and I can't find all the sources I'd need, and they won't give me access to their online virtual library because I'm not a student yet. Plus, this is the busiest time of year at work and two people are out (one quit and one has an abcessed tooth) which means I really won't have time to work on the fucking thing. 99% of the work problems are due to my employer's shit management. I am not going to work 24/7 for him. I have a life and A TON of stuff to do before I leave.

So I'm sitting here all stressed out and I just realized that fuck it. There is no way that I can do this test thing, and I'm just going to have to take the class. I'm so frustrated and just.... fuck. I hope this isn't what it's going to be like when I'm working going to school. Hopefully, just being away from here will help.

So I have to do this pro/con debate essay paper to test out of one of my classes at ITT. I have three weeks to finish it and some other test questions. I don't think it'll be too much trouble, but good grief it's been so long since I had to do something like this I feel so dumb about it. There's a long list of topics to choose from and I have my eye on 4 or 5. Now it's just a matter of going to the library and finding research for them so I can make up my mind which one I want to do. Joy. Oh well, if I do all right on this, then that's one less class I have to take. It'll also change my schedule for when I start. Right now, I'm only taking 2 classes my first quarter, and if I test out of this, that'll be one. They'll likely move things around so that I'll have three again. Or I'm hoping.

Fingers crossed people.

Full day

I'm so excited that I have something to actually post about in my journal. Heh. Anyway, I went to school today to finalize my financial aid. I didn't get as much as I thought I would, and I'm going to have to pay a bit, but fortunately it's a manageable amount, and if I absolutely need to, they have a personal loan thing that can help me out. I'm going to try and do without. A LOT of my credits from college transfered, so it cut my classes down to about half of what I would have been taking. I'll be getting my bachelors in about 2 years instead of 3 or 4. The people at the school were super helpful about finding an apartment and getting a job. There are a lot of companies right in the area of the school that have decent pay, and some of them even offer tuition reimbursement if you work there long enough. So things are on the up and up. I didn't go looking for a place just yet. I have a couple of apartment complexes in mind, and I'll be checking in with them in a few weeks. Mom and I are also talking about upgrading my truck to a newer car since I'll be driving more. That's something I want to put on the back burner for a while until I get settled in Knoxville. I want to check out my budget and everything before I worry about a car payment or helping mom with a car payment. Either way, it's all very exciting. Mom was super impressed, and she even told me over lunch that she's excited for me too, which is a big deal. Mom's been hesitant about this whole thing ever since I brought the idea up.

After we were done there, we headed back towards home stopping in Severville and Pigeon Forge and did a bit of outlet shopping. I bought the cutest pair of Nine West heels. They were marked $59.99 at the outlet store (zappos has them for $72.95), and I got them for $39.99 on sale. I totally rock. Then we headed over to Areopostale, a store I don't usually shop at, but I wanted some new T-shirts and they have cute ones. I bought three, and then as we were walking out the door, mom saw one she really liked, so I bought us both one of those. I am in just a spectacular mood, but now I need to check LJ real quick and go to bed. I'm so tired from staying up late last night, and I have to work in the morning.

OMG SCHOOL! EEE!
